Blessed Food – Eating and drinking in the Middle Ages

Summer Exhibition in the Baroque Hall of the Abbey Library of St Gall23 April to 10 November 2024

Eating and drinking are among the most important things we do. What we eat and how we eat tells us much about ourselves as humans. The 11th-century food blessings of Ekkehart IV in the Abbey Library of St Gall are a unique source for the cuisine of the Middle Ages. Based on this collection of verses, the exhibition embarks on a voyage of discovery into the food culture of the past.
